Finding the perfect routine for you, your mindset and your skin

The one constant in life is ‘change,’ right? As we work to improve our lives, we will likely find that we have habits or routines that hold us back from our goals. Finding and building a routine that fits you individually takes time and persistence.

How’s your first quarter of the year going?

Firstly I want to talk about the pressures that came with going into this new year. Everyone falls into the trap that just because we have now gone into a new year, we now have the ability to become a new version of ourselves. Managing to leave all the struggles we had over the past 12 months on the 31st of December.

A new year can encourage a new outlook on life and opportunity to change old habits and bring in new ones, but let’s not pretend every other day of the year also brings this opportunity.

So now we have all tormented ourselves over the last couple of months watching all over social media the new year’s resolutions, the new 90 day challenges and the new ‘updated’ day-to-day routine. Let’s take a step back and remember nobody has the same life as you. You can achieve anything at any pace you would like to and still be able to become the best version of yourself in the best possible way.

In my opinion the best place to start is feeling great in your own skin. Book your FREE skin consultation here and start your journey today!

March – The month the clocks jump forward

As we head into spring, we can start to get excited about the longer days. Brighter mornings encourage earlier starts with more opportunity to make those small changes in order to become a better version of ourselves.

Whether direct or indirect, sunlight is needed to maintain our physical and mental health. The sun helps our bodies produce vitamin D, melatonin and serotonin.

Serotonin is also known for playing a huge role in regulating our mood. It helps our bodies experience happiness and regulate anxiety. Both of these help individuals mindsets in a positive way, potentially translating to more productivity.

Starting the day right can change your whole mindset for the next 24 hours.

It’s not hard to believe that brighter mornings typically encourage productivity when you first wake up.

Tips for making your morning routine easier.

  1. Plan your routine the night before.
  2. Get your gym/work bag ready before you get into bed.
  3. Lay out your skincare in the bathroom so it is ready.
Leaving your cleanser and creams by the sink will remind you to do it as soon as you wake up. (nobody is pretending their mornings are never so chaotic that they forget)
  4. Make your bed as soon as you wake up – this will remove the temptation to climb back in.
  5. Leave a glass of water by your bed to drink in the morning. Water is incredible for your health and skin so drinking a glass to start your day is a great start.

Changing your routine is a marathon and not a sprint

There are a million and one books/blogs and podcasts out there at the moment promoting how important it is to go easy on yourself when trying to achieve goals, whether it be a promotion at work, a fitness goal or achieving clearer skin.

The idea that you can flick a switch and then all of a sudden go from starting your day as a ‘7:30am breakfast in bed’ person to a 5am gym starter is unrealistic.

I am here to help you believe making small changes to your day-to-day habits can achieve the most incredible results.

Making lots of small positive changes that are simple and easy to maintain can bring a huge amount of achievement and self encouragement to accomplish more and more.

Take the first positive step today and book in your FREE skin consultation. This might be the start of a longer journey than you thought but I can assure you the best place to start is feeling good in your own skin!

What does self-care mean to you?

Beauty? Exercise? Diet? Or Something completely different?

Everyone finds happiness and feels good in their own way.

A common activity people associate with self care is visiting the gym. The sense of achievement and the energy it gives our body at the start of the day pushes us to accomplish more and more as the day goes on.

Exercising and skin care tend to be the most popular when it comes to self care. But when changing day-to-day habits to incorporate more self-love and happiness into your routine, there are a lot more ways to do this.

Speaking kindly to yourself about what you love and appreciate in your life can also help your mentality when looking to make small changes in your routine. This could be your family, having a healthy and organised morning will make you more positive which will then reflect onto your family. Overall creating a happy mind and healthy environment.

Another could be modifying your eating habits, eating healthily can have an incredibly positive affect on your health and physical appearance. Adding those together results in you feeling better about yourself and ultimately more active.

I recommend a number of supplements into your diet that can impact your skin greatly such as vitamin D and C. However increasing our Omega 3, 6 and 9 has been proven to promote smoother, younger looking skin with a healthier complexion regardless of our age or skin type greatly.

Incorporating different foods into your diet to ensure you are getting these fatty acids can be a long process, however UDO’s choice have created a concentrated oil supplement that you add to your cereal, cooked food or you can take their capsule supplement. Just a small change to your day-to-day routine and you are adding three vital ingredients to your diet to help you achieve hydrated and youthful skin.

Skincare and Self Care

Our skin is the largest organ in our body and plays an essential role in providing a protective barrier. This is why it is vital we incorporate skincare into our routine.

Although a Hydrafacial might be seen as a luxury, the benefits of this regular treatment go beyond a pampering treat. To achieve optimal results it is recommended to incorporate this treatment into your skincare routine around every 4-6 weeks. The facial is perfect for maintaining clear, hydrated and radiant skin all year round.

The different stages of a HydraFacial provide different benefits. The deep exfoliation and extractions involved in the treatment will reach deeper into the skin where your daily cleaner just can’t get to, resulting in a refreshed and rejuvenated complexion. The HydraFacial also uses an expert device to push moisture and hydration deep into the skin lasting longer than all of your at-home skincare products ever could.

A Chemical Peel is also a treatment highly recommended to be incorporated into your skincare routine. Chemical peels achieve a brighter and smoother complexion as well as improving skin clarity and tone, stimulating collagen production and clearing up breakout.

This treatment is also recommended every 3 weeks for 5 sessions  in order to achieve the best possible results.

Regularly taking care of your skin can provide both mental and physical health benefits. Good quality skincare treatments can improve self confidence, self worth and above all a happy, healthy and radiant appearance.
